Gone are the days with Monday Blues, when you've your best companion to spend the day with! Ed and I met up last Monday, and we kick-started the day with Old Hen Coffee Bar, located conveniently at Farrer Park station. Pretty easy to get there from town also! We took bus 131 from SOTA and reached there in about 15 minutes or so, including walking time.
It's a very small, cozy and quaint cafe, and I really love the window seats despite the fact that there are limited number of seats available. What makes the cafe feeling warmer was the small Christmas tree by the side of the counter! Seeing how that group of men mingle together also made me feel warm :)
The menu is simple, just the basic items you need for a cafe - hot and cold brew, all-day-breakfast, and cakes displayed on shelf! I believe the most popular item was the cold brew in bottle because...
Apparently almost everyone order them so I've mine too! (More self-love photos with the cold-brew below)
Every coffee needs to go with a slice of cake, and I got their Red Velvet cake as expected! The cake was moist and soft, but I thought the cream cheese didn't taste quite strong; it tasted more like normal cream with a faint cheese taste! Overall, maybe 8/10? It's still much more decent than many others I've tried!
Moving on, we went back to town after dropping by Chinatown to collect my things. I've been wanting to visit the Christmas tree outside ION Orchard and I'm finally hereee. It's so magical inside the tree! I'm still quite amazed at how the tree appeared so normal outside but when you take photos of it, it appeared really gooood :)
Sorry, too many shots of him with his head lying on mine -- because he's too tall and needs something to lean on while he bent down to take photos with me HAHAH
I also finally tried Bao Today which we've had for dinner. The top half of the Salted Egg Custard bun was kinda hard, maybe because it's slightly thicker than the bottom, but I still liked it anyway. It's quite an average dim sum shop, a place I'd pop by for a quick dim sum fix!
It's been a rainy December! Anyhow, we went back again at night despite the drizzle, just to have a night shot with the tree and also to see how it looks like in the night time. Pretty pretty!
P.S// Thanks Ed for spending this Christmas with me, and always accompanying me to different places that I've asked to go to! More Christmas togetherrrr :) Thanks for the pretty necklace too, I can't wait to wear them out already!
Since I'm blogging this on a Christmas day, I'm hereby wishing you a
Merry Merry Christmas!
Also, 2014 is coming to an end and I can't wait to do a self-reflection for the year. Let's make the rest of this year a great one, thus we shall all enjoy ourselves till the very end of 2014!!!
