Bangkok Day 1

10:30HRS SIM Card  Tummy filled  Off to take BTS to the City!

Upon checking in at the airport, I noticed the advertisement on AIS SIM Card. I realised there were many different shops selling Tourist SIM Card but since I set my eyes first on AIS, I decided to get that.

AIS offered 4 types of packages, ranging from 7-Day to 30-Day SIM Card. I got myself the 7-Day package which includes 100 Call Credit and 1.5GB Data for only 299 THB (S$12)!
I would totally recommend taking the trains from the airport to any other places, just bc it's very convenient, fast and easy! It's also safe and cheap, so why not?

E.g. Airport to Ratchaprarop: 65 THB (Approx $2.60), approx. 30 minutes

From BTS Ratchaprarop, we walked about 15-20 minutes to our hotel - Hotel Vista Express.
1130HRS Pretty lucky to check in the hotel earlier than expected at NO EXTRA COST, so we're all really happy!

1400HRS Time to venture out around the city to familiarize with our neighborhood area after we're done with settling down in the hotel.

Platinum Mall has got many many things and I would totally recommend spending half your day here! If I were to revisit this place again, here's what I suggest for the itinerary for the day:

0900HRS Breakfast at hotel
1030HRS Shopping at Platinum Mall
1230HRS Lunch inside Platinum Mall or grab some bites from the stalls
1400HRS Resume shopping
1800HRS Dinner along the street
1900HRS Shop along the street

Note that street stalls start around in the late evening, so take your time and enjoy shopping in the mall for as long as you want! There are some stalls selling small bites on the basement, inside and outside the mall such as Black Canyon Coffee (LEVEL 3/4), CoCo Bubble Tea and Starbucks (both LEVEL 1 outside mall). Feel free to pause your shopping and chill with some drinks and snacks!

I loveee street shopping so you can go ahead and explore the other streets for some cheap shopping! Otherwise, head back to your hotel early for a good night's sleep!

As for us, we randomly browse through the shops in Platinum Mall before heading out to Central World where you've some food fair going on and there's Isetan and other shops inside Central World. It's a short walking distance from Platinum Mall!

While this is not Erawan Shrine, we still stopped by for a short while to pray before entering the mall. If nothing on the street and mall caters to you, Central World offers a wide variety of international brands to satisfy your shopping needs! Here we talk about Zara, Uniqlo, TopShop, Adidas, Nike, Starbucks, Coffee Bean... You name it.

Despite the recent bombing near the area, there were still many tourists and locals making their visit to the famous Erawan Shrine.

The dance was said to be a offering to the God, thanking the God on behalf of the people who seeked help from the God for blessing them.

We left Erawan Shrine after that, and headed back to hotel early for a good rest before my sist and I came out to shop at Platinum Mall again.

These marked the end of my Day 1 in BKK! More to come in Day 2, 3 and 4!
