(FEB) Movies of the Month

50 Shades is a very sad romance movie, not porn. Despite being a R21 movie, the sex scenes were said to be quite little. However, in my opinion, I felt that those scenes weren't very important to convey the context of the movie. I've watched the cut version, and I believe there isn't a great difference from the actual version.

To clear certain people's doubts, Christian Grey did not abuse or torture Anastasia. (Please Google on 'BDSM' and also watch the movie + read the book for deeper knowledge of what's going on. Too much hate comments for this movie, no idea why!) This movie is directed by a female director, and the author is also a female. I don't see how is it possible for the females to promote (guy to girl) sexual abuse!?

In less than a week, I've finished reading Fifty Shades of Grey (and I'm almost done with reading Fifty Shades Darker), and I've to agree with those who said books were nicer. I think it's no doubt, bc in books, you can express better with the use of words. In movie, it depends on the directing and also the expressions that the actors and actresses portray. I'd say it's pretty unfair to compare a book (400+ pages) to a movie (2hrs+) as in the movie, there wasn't a 100% copy of the book.

Totally looking forward to Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed to be played on screen!

On the side note, the movie has gotten me so addicted to Ellie Goulding's 'Love Me Like You Do' - I loved how the choreography was in sync with the moves in the movie - and Beyonce's 'Haunted' - despite being a slow song!

I caught the movie recently with my brother, and thought it was a nice movie, as expected. Grossing about $6 million over 3 weeks in Singapore, I'm sure it's definitely a great hit!

As compared to Part 1 and 2 of the movie, I felt that this has got lesser funny scenes. Most of the scenes were pretty serious, or maybe it's just me getting too into their tough training of the NDU. I liked how the movie included fresh faces with pretty good acting. The most memorable character would've be Diver Handsome - the guy who took so good care of his skin even during the Hell Week. I prolly remembered his 'lao sai' scene and also the scene of him showing his teammates how to use the Nivea product!

The only down side of this movie - too much product placements. At certain parts of the show, I felt that I was watching an advertisement in drama version. Breadtalk, Toastbox, Nivea (especially) and Dester Beer.. It's one of the good ways to promote products, but it's getting a little too sickening to see advertisements even when watching movie. That got me wondering, did Nivea set their advertising budget a tad too high? (They've also gotten Clicknetwork TV (search on Youtube channel) to promote for them as well).

Please look forward to my movie reviews for the month of March!
